BE A HOST FAMILY!
Open your hearts and homes to our visiting Jewish Athletes!
On August 9, 2009, more than 300 San Antonio families will extend a warm welcome to 700 visiting JCC Maccabi Games athletes from across North America and around the world. All visiting athletes are provided with southern Jewish home hospitality during the week of the Games. Being a host family is a wonderful way to be a part of the JCC Maccabi Games®. Many past Maccabi athletes have developed lasting friendships with their host families. The entire Jewish community is needed to make the Games a success.

We are looking for Jewish homes in San Antonio and the surrounding areas.

We will need several kosher homes, but it is not required to have a kosher household.
-
Host family must be available from Sunday, August 9 through Friday morning, August 14, 2009.
-
Families with children of all ages will enjoy being a part of the Games as a Host Family.
-
Athletes may not baby-sit, as their week will be loaded with activities.
-
For your convenience, athletes may be dropped off each morning at one of the following hubs: JCC, Trinity University and the Stone Oak area (TBD). Drop-off points are designated to accommodate host family schedules and locations and to avoid lengthy driving distances.
-
Some athletes may need to be dropped off at their specific venues.
-
Times for athletes to be dropped off and picked up each day will be determined in advance and communicated to host families prior to the athletes’ arrival.
-
Athletes will need to be picked up Monday and Tuesday following afternoon athletic events at one of the hubs mentioned above. They will then be brought back to the host's home for dinner, laundry and to prepare for the evening's events. On Monday after dinner at the host's home, the athletes will be returned to the designated hub so they may participate in the evening's social events.
-
Tuesday evening is designated as Host Family Night. Host families are encouraged to get together with other host families and plan an evening of fun for the athletes.
-
Lunches will be provided daily for the athletes. Hosts are asked to provide a light breakfast each morning and dinner Sunday through Tuesday.
-
Each host family is required to host a minimum of two (2) visiting athletes.
-
Host families must provide each athlete with reasonable and separate sleeping accommodations. Please do not plan on athletes sharing beds.
-
Mandatory orientation sessions will be provided for all host families.
